Title: Rear Differential Mount Gusseting for HP

I was advised that I should strengthen my rear differential mount at my higher hp level.  While thinking of how to weld cast aluminium to plate aluminium Joel came out of the water burnout and his differential bust both front and rear mounts!   Luckily he didn't have any other damage and no one hurt.  Also a huge bonus that it happened before racing down the quarter mile at speed.

Time to weld gussets to fill the airgaps of the rear mounting arms.  I cut small gussets out of 1/4" aluminium plate and ground the differential mount cleam and made nice tight fits.  Then I welded with a MIG (sire feed) welder.  There were some air bubbles and pits in the weld.  I installed some custom made aluminium bushings in place of the rubber ones then I painted the diff and installed it back into my car.  Busted the transmission again.  I got a deal on a 35 spline spool, diff stubs axles and Billet yoke so I pulled my current set up out of car to install the new spool with its Cryo polished gear set, Steel Mark Williams carrier caps, ARP stuuds and Billet yoke.  A slight improvement over what i already had.  But I decided to upgrade to prettier diff mount gussets because I'd purchased a TIG welder and needed the practice.

Joel Fortin (like myself) has no problem overbuilding parts for his car so he made double outer gussets with a bolt access hole and drain hole.

When Joel went to a Ford 9" rear diff he sold me his gussetted diff and other misc parts since I'm still working a couple built Dana Super 44s.

If you look under my 900whp TT Street Viper you'll see this diff cover/rear mount which I installed Poly mounts into that mount, supplied by Ryan Hagen.
