:D Today "the other guy" hit the wooden bridge and wrecked it.  Bridge crew coming out to replace the busted timbers and new caution sign.   :eatspopcorn:

After I did an inspection on the bridge the sun started to come up ...

Once I got home and fed the dogs ...  I grabbed my Canon 40D and headed out to the fornt patio.  The sunset is really cool lookin' with it reflecting off the ice on the Lake ...

Using my Canon 40D (since my 7D and Sigma lense were ripped off in Texas)  Big difference in quality and adjustablility.

I finally managed to replace my Canon 7D and my Sigma super zoom lens after the theft in Houston.  The lens I upgraded from a 18-200 to a 18-250 (both oprtically stabilized).  Hope the insurance comes through because even just the camera and lens with a CF card were $2500.

Sunrise this morning just before 8am.

Due to unseasonable hot weather and our normal mostly sunshine weather we've been haveing rain and melting snow.  Interesting sunset effects ... but really tough for walking and I won't attempt driving on it, excepr with my Ice radial equipped AWD Stealth.

Lots of snow 40kms down the highway at the Rainbow Mountains.  Top of the most dangerous Hill in North America.  28kms, steepest grade allowed, 1 lane along some of the switchbacks and cliffs with as far as 3,000' drops.  Last Spring a vehicle was found wrapped around a tree out of sight of the road.  Grizzly snack.  Driver had a broken pelvis.  Died in the vehicle during winter (imagine the highway exactly like this ...).  The Hill covers a few different climate zones because it is about 6500 vertical foot drop to sea level.  I was driving my F150 uphill on a Xmas morning and had it in 4wd.  Driving uphill at 40mph when the road turned into ice and suddenly I was going backwards at 40mph!  Managed to hook the uphill side wheels in the ditch and after 40minutes of spinning I managed the 500' of ice covered hwy and got to the snow.  No problem after that.  I sure am glad that I'm not heading down there right now!

Here's my "boat lauch" in front of my house leading to the lakeshore.

The way my driveway looked tonight

Took the Stealth TT to the Post Office this afternoon.  Took it for pics n the driveway and went out on the Lake for some interesting sunset pics.  Almost looks like it'd be worthwhile to trailer the GTS out there and unload it on the lake, just for pics.  Or maybe build some ramps to make the transition from road to lake ice much less steep?

Problem is that I never know what kind of sunset I'm going to get ...     :D

Wife got up before me and took this sunrise pic ... through the window.  When I asked her why she didn't take this shot outside she said, "It's cold out there."   :headscratch:

So that's what the world looks like before 8am?   :D

Went down on the Lake and spun some donuts ... then took a few pics.

Had too much fun and that slowed me a little.  Lost the best light?   :D  It was FUN.

The warm temps are really screwing with the ice.  Cracks all over.  40F days and 0F at nights causes the Ice to really make a lot of noise.  The 20 minutes I spent on the ice I was listening to ice snapping as it cracked all arond the lake.  One snap sounded like only 20' away from where I was kneeling to take a pic.  Lately we can often hear the ice contracting at night even inside my LOG house.

LOL, even gave my heart a momentary workout when the crack snapped so close to me.
