I want to congatulate Joe Christopherson and Josh Ralph (?) who came in just off the Podium at 4th place in the 125mph class with Joe`s 01 Viper ACR!!!

Congrats to Michael Fine and John Brimmer who came in the same position (4th place) in the 110mph class with Mike`s FINE SRT8 Magnum!

Congrats to Bill Bagshaw and John Fuchs who came in 5th in the 150mph in their 08 Viper.

Clay and Keith Hansen ran a 2010 Challenger SRT8 and won the first place in the 130mph class

I want to say Honorable mention to Lirel Holt and Ann Emerson drove their 09 Viper in the 150mph class and finished 8th which placed them in front of 6 Corvettes, a 1500whp Lambo, couple Porsches, Monte Carlo and an RX7.

I was looking through the event results.  Although I was first place, a Corvette came in second and a Z06 vette came in third.  I didn`t realize that the one vette was only .08 sec farther from the perfect time than me.  The Z06 was 1.6 sec farther off.  Watching a couple vettes I saw the GM traction control in action.  Drop the clutch and as soon as the tires start spinning the traction control tries to stop the car and once the engine almost stalls the engine will be allowed to start making power.  Wow, didn`t like that at all.  Would have been a much better launch dropping the clutch at a fast idle and rolling on the throttle, then floor it once the tires are hooked.  I dropped the clutch and eased off the throttle then waited for the tires to be `hooked`then floor it.  I`m waiting for the Halfmile results to be posted so I can tell if my hard launch and high rev shifts are faster than my easier launch and lower (5K) rpm shifts.

Here`s a ZR1 launching.

I know that some of you guys want to see the blown Hemi in the Challenger Superbird that made 904hp with the Mammoth Blower.  I beat him by less than a mph but my bhp (crank hp) is about 818 and my weight is about 3800lbs with tools, parts, 170 pounds of me and 200lb passenger John.  The Challenger was about 4500lbs?

Here`s John looking over my engine after helping me change out the rear axle Jon arranged for us.  John has a Roe blower kit at home and I believe that is his next project.  There is a Pro AutoX vette that is the only one that consistently beats his ass and Joh is going to take the championship away from the vette guy.  Honorable intentions!

I was hoping that you`d be there Jeff ...  In Sept?

There was 3 Corvette Teams there and although a full team is 10 ... our 7 came in 5th place and our team were rookies and 2nd time participants.  We could use your Mopar help.

The shootout results have been posted ...  http://www.sscc.us/event_results/results-13-norc.htm

New figures show the silver ZR1 (pic above) was only .1mph slower.  There were also a few other ZR1s close by.

Looks like I'll need to "pick up my game" or come home without a trophy one day ...

Halfmile video ...http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DnvRpw-LkXE

And I found this video that someone posted from the finish line of the mile shootout.  It has my TT GTS 175mph run (2nd fastest), Mark Capener's race gas 1500whp halfmile run (fastest) as well as Joe Christopherson's stock '01 Viper ACR pass.  Mark Capener's TT SRT10 was 3rd fastest in the halfmile (behind me).    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=coVKz9QSVag

OK, looking to goin again on Sept 12-15th this fall.  Who else is interested?

Mike (Hemi family) and John Brimmer will be attending in Mike's almost new 2008 Z06 with it's new engine.

I am hoping Taillights comes with his car.  I asked Trevor (TNT) if he's interested n being my navigator this time, but suspect he'll be too busy.

I spoke to a couple of guys in Williams Lake and may bring along an R8 or new Bentley and a older (430bhp) Z06 along this Sept. as well.

I asked Adrnlin to come along and run one of his cars ... but he didn't answer yet.

I plan to attend Darryl's running at the Salt Flats a couple days before SSCC.us

I have pictures of the Viper GTS rollover protection.  There are a few pieces of rectagular tubing welded at the badk of the door windows and covered by the Viper's upholstery.

The vettes used to be the most abundant car in the Sport classes (130-150mph) but last spring the Touring  and Grand Touring were tremendously overpopulated with vettes.  Most supercar people really don't want to 'butcher' their cars and start adding race only equipment.  These cars are built for extreme speeds and that includes crashes.  If these cars hadn't been built with so much crash protection, they would only weight about 2600# and be twice as fast.  Without that superior protection my wife and I probably would have died when we head=on'd the Semi a few years ago.  With Bill Bagshaw, Lorin Holt runnign the 150moph class with more than a half dozen vettes I doubt that a roll bar is still required in sport class.  What was different this year was that 5-6 point safety harnesses were required for GT class.  For most cars this means that a Shoulder harness bar is required for the car as well.  The Viper comes with a built in shoulder harness bar incorporated in the frame behind the driver.  Even superior and safer design than a vette Z06 or ZR1 which are much more like a true "hatchback".  The Viper's frame surrounds the occupants of the cockpit with the frame being shoulder height behind the seats!

During the Rookie Tour/Caravan to Ely a stop before the Rally course is at Ash Srpings for gas and a short talk about timing and navigations with helpful hints and tips on how to win.  Blue Offit also hands out a FREE course/route guide with timing figured to the tenths (hundreths?) of a second with the recommendation that each team do their own research and make their own guides.  Tim Anglin and I won third place with this sheet.  This time there was a school bus of high school kids.  John and I spoke to more than a half dozen kids and showed them my engine explaining that this Viper was a reason to work their butts off and buy a Viper instead of drugs and Booze.
