That would be a much needed upgrade. They really need to lose weight too.  The author needs to do a little research though, because a 600hp Challenger is not going to be even close to the "base" Viper in performance. And, I hate to say it, but without some serious weight loss, a 600 hp Chally is not going to be any match for the Shelby GT 500.

I'm not so sure about that Shooter.  The Shelby GT500 I saw at Mojve Mile was only marginally faster than a blown 5.7 Challenger R/T which was tied with a stock 392 Challenger.  Both of them went 160mph in the standing mile.  A gen 4 Viper there only ran 164mph in the mile.  Chrysler doesn't rate their hp the same as Ford and I'd take 600bhp from dodge/srt before 640bhp from GM.  I wouldn't be surprised if the GT500 went up another 60bhp by next year though.

We'll have to see.  Since there is no more FGT as they stepped down from the supercar world they probably want to stay top dog in the Muscle car world would be my guess.

The 2013 Shelby has 662 HP and is 400 lbs lighter then the SRT 8 Challenger. When we still had my wife's 2012 5.0, I never lost to a stock SRT 8 Challenger or Charger. It got so bad that I couldn't get anyone around my place to play. Our 420 hp Mustang was 600+ lbs lighter then the SRT products. Means a lot. I like Mopar products too, but they need to lose the pork. Way to heavy in this day and age.

I don't know.  The Mustang is really small.  When I first looked at the Caddy's supercharged car I was amazed that it was sooooo puny.  I realize that small is light, but sometimes you want a bigger, more comfortable car - like the Chally.  I don't understand the Charger SRT since it has 4 doors, but I'm old school and don't get into the BMWs Audis and other 4 door "performance" sedans.  I understand the Charger is to compete with those cars.  I'll admit when I saw an older Beemer with it's hood up and saw a V12 in the engine bay I was stunned.

Watched an M5 after being told it was a performance car ...  I still don't believe that and it didn't look fast.  It did smoke the inside tire around hard corners, but a "performance car" would have smoked both back tires and drifted the corner faster ...     :eatspopcorn:

I like the Chally, but admit that I like the better perf of the GT500.

A Kenney Bell TS kit (blower looked same size as my Roe blower) on a Challenger R/T 5.7L and a stock 2013 392 Challenger were equal in performance at the Mojave Mile ...  160mph in the mile  Gen 4 Viper went 164mph

I saw one of those on a 08 6.1 Challenger. He said it made 640 hp. I also saw one on a gen 2 Viper. I guess Kenne Bell didn't make many for the Viper. Wonder how they were compared to a Roe?

The blowers are made by autorotor I believe.

Roe racing doesn't make the blowers, he makes the KIT and I think he gets the blowers from Kennie Bell.  Sean's price for the 2.8L blower was cheaper than buying direct from KB by the way.  The volume of the blowers, the condition and the boost all factor into the horsepower increase that comes from a blower.  Higher PSI/Boost creates detonation which can be countered by intercoolers or chemical (methanol/water) injection to lower charge air temperatures and lessen detonation.  Our 2.4L blowers work excellent on GT500 Shelbys up to 24psi boost.  There are many mitigating factors.

So KB quit making the blowers therefore no more to be had?  And when Roe says they may be bringing it back does that mean KB is and they are just selling as their own kit again?

KB still makes the 2.8L and 2.8H. Sean purchases the blowers from KB and sells them with his kit that includes injectors, intake, pulley brackets, intake tubes, Blower, ect.. He does the same thing for the truck kits, but the blower is a Whipple 3.4L.

Yes, BUT Sean is not currently producing the kit and it'll  probably be a long time (if ever) till he produces them again.

The challenger kit is built by KB and can be ordered directly here. http://www.kennebell.net/KBWebsite/SC_pg/Dodge/layouts/Dodge.htm
