Amazing time from Joel Highsmith's Megablower 426ci Challenger SRT8 Superbird.  Although I beat Joel at the NORC Halfmile shootout last May, he shouldn't be so easy to beat next time since he ran 171mph on a street tune last weekend.  18psi boost  through a 4.3L Twinscrew blower.  First time out the Mopar race heads blew out the combustion chambers because they are only .130" thick and not made for massive amounts of boost and volume.  He replaced the heads with Apache heads and ran 146mph in the Halfmile when I beat him.

Joel said that he found a problem with the block of that engine and, again, has another new engine.  My TT GTS only ran 176mph in the halfmile shootout on crappy street tires (KDW 2s) but Joel was telling us that he runs 26psi when he gets the engine sorted out.  Congrats to Joel, didn't think that Hemis were able to go that fast.

Joel posted that he is doing the Mojave Mile this weekend and there will be 3 Spankin It Hemi Challys.  Joel has a very complicated roll cage in his car.  He wrote that although the other two Challengers had identical 1000hp engines, they are allowed a max of 205mph while he's hoping to run faster.

I'm guessing that the other 2 Challengers have 6 point roll bars (required 175 - 205mph) and/or Joel has a remote manual fire extinguisher system and they don't.  The fire suppression system was what I was missing when I ran at Mojave Mile.  Normally when you "breakout" your time slip is not written.  Mine was accidently given too me  :2thumbsup:  by a new guy.

Unfortunately, Joel's blower (KB 4.3L TS) crapped out and he didn't make the Mojave Mile this weekend.

Dan Cragin sent me an email and said that he went to MM with several customers and they were all licensed over 200mph.  Including Harry Harkonan with his 750whp Paxton slope nosed 06 coupe.  Harry had no acceleration in 6th gear problems with 27.5" tall street tires and 3.55 gears.  Congrats Harry.  When Harry tried the 1.5 mile event he was still limited to 195mph (top speed in 5th).  I'm guessing he put stock or 3.33 gears back into his Viper...
