:hayes:  It was 43 here !!!  Unfortunately it was MINUS 43C with the wind chill.  Hurt the skin outside and that's when my job required 17-19 hrs a day.  From cushy rig shack iwth internet, phone and sat TV to freakin' pickup in the cold cold north.  Some snow but it's too cold to snow much more than tiny flakes so the problem is blowing snow.  Lots of accidents on the highway.  Double fatality yesterday closed highway for 10 hours.  I was working so it didn't matter to me.  I am getting lots of practice drifting my Ford 1 ton and highway speeds though.  Braking and side slipping recovery are good practise.  Most important it's everybody else that's going into the ditch!

:idk:  windy and warm, mostly windy.  Passed about 50 trees blown down on the roads.  I had to pull 3 big ones aside to get through!  While pulling and helping move a couple trees at the first location there was 12 pickups waiting.  Guess only 2 of us pack a chain in our 4x4s?  While pulling two aside there was 2 more that crashed down on top of the 2 we were pulling!

Scary shit, especially when they exploded upon landing and showered us with pine cones, branches and other shrapnel.  Hard to believe that people sit in their trucks waiting for the falling trees to land on them.  I figure I'm much safer spending 15 min outside hooking the chain and pulling the tree aside then driving through as compared to them sitting in their trucks waiting under the trees for a half hour or longer for someone to save them (me) so they could drive down the road.

Driving down the road and we see 2 blocks of xmas lights in the small trees along side the road!  In the middle of nowhere with no houses or driveways nearby.  The blinking leds I thought were coold until I realized that all the small trees along the edge of the road were burning from the downed powerlines that were laying across their branches ...  Strange sight.

  Thanks guys.  Yah we are required to wear fire resistant coveralls with refelctive tape sewn all over the place.  My Ford sleigh is Red and my suit is also red (to represent the 35,000,000 BTUs of flame/heat I control.  I guess pulling the trees out of the way for everyone could be considered a present?   :idk:  Tossing the branches and debris is also like dieting ...  I charged for it...

I was wearing my rec/orange hard hat because wome trees were still falling and exploding around us.  Lots was bouncing off my truck and sometimes pine cones and sh t barely missed us.

I see that the pic that is posted isn't one wearing my hard hat.  This one safer than the others we tugged out of the way
