Nascar didn't allow any unlimited "race cars" to compete in stock classes, only production cars.

NHRA also required that at least 500 cars be built to be allowed to run in their production classes, such as the Hurst Hemi 'cudas and Hurt Hemi Darts.  They are the world's quickest production cars and hence they are the "A" class in stock classes.

Don't think there are any requirements for Lemans since the GTSR isn't anything like a Viper and they only built 2 or 3?

Not sure any of this matters since the Nurbergring record is open to interpretation.  Here's the list of recorded street legal lapt times;

I suppose this is the Nurburgring's classes;

Production, street-legal vehicles

Both "production" and "street legal" vehicles are not easy to define. The Nürburgring is a public (toll-) road, and regulations of Germany and the EU apply. For the purpose of this list, a car is “street legal” if it comes with a manufacturer-provided certificate of conformity that allows the car to be registered in any country of the EU for road use. For the purpose of this list, existence of this certificate (either European Community Whole Vehicle Type Approval (ECWVTA) or European Community Small Series Type Approval (ECSSTA)) is understood as a demonstration of intent for some kind of mass production. A production vehicle is defined as "one that is put into mass production, as a model produced in large numbers and offered for sale to the public."

I don't think Radicals are street legal anywhere...

All they require for their definition of Production car is a certificate which they say "shows intent to build mass production"  The compoany doesn't actually have to build more than the car that they run?

Perhaps they should have classes according to cost?  That would put vette, GTR and Viper in a class all by themselves I would guess.

Last attempt was 7.01 2018 ACR E production Viper.   Car eould have gone faster but there was a lot of money and time wasted due to rain.  Twice front tires blew out on the cars and both crashed because of it.  All drivers said the car could go faster, with more time.  Although there are 2 faster million dollar AWD 900bhp Hyrids taht ran faster the Viper is still the worlds fastest manually shifted production car in the world!

With the new C8 vette eventually coming out with dual clutch 8 spd trans and rear engine it may surpass the Viper ACR - but manual transmission is no longer an option so it looks like the Viper world record will stand.
